A kinetic ceiling of mirror-polished steel leaves — a shoal of light suspended over a bank lobby, drifting on the room's own air.

01 — The Sketch

The Sketch

The brief asked for movement without machinery: a living ceiling that responds to the building, not a motor. We drew the piece as a field of individually suspended leaves on a flowing spline, each one a .125″ 316-stainless blank profiled and mirror-polished, hung on its own cable so the whole shoal reads as one wave from the floor.

02 — The Sweat

The Sweat

Every leaf was cut, formed, and polished by hand to a flawless mirror, then hung to a rigging plan that placed hundreds of suspension points to the millimeter. Concealed LED washes the field so the steel catches warm light by day and glows by night — a 14′-6″ span tuned leaf by leaf until the wave broke exactly right.

The Reveal

From the lobby floor it reads as a single shimmering current overhead — hundreds of hand-polished pieces moving as one, turning a ceiling into weather.
