CURVED MILLWORK · RETAIL · HONOLULU

A sculptural reception desk that had to greet every client twice — once as furniture, once as craft.

01 — The Sketch

The Sketch

The floor plan wanted a soft landing at the entry: a curve you walk around, not a counter you stand behind. We developed the sweep in CAD, then broke it into laminated rib-and-skin sections the shop could bend, stack, and fair.

02 — The Sweat

The Sweat

Kerf-bent and vacuum-laminated skins over CNC-cut ribs, banded in hardwood, wrapped in alternating veneer courses, and topped with a seamless counter. The reveal lines between bands are the design — so every gap had to hold true around the full curve.

The Reveal

The first thing a client touches in the salon is the desk's rail — and it feels exactly like it looks: continuous, warm, and built by hand.
